Professor Tan Cheng Han
Professor Tan Cheng Han is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (“NUS”). He is also a Senior Counsel and arbitrator, and the Chairman of the NUS law school’s Centre for Law and Business. In addition to being a non-executive Chairman, Professor Tan chairs the Investment Committee and Nomination & Remuneration Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Professor Tan's current appointments include being the Chairman of the Public Accountants Oversight Committee, a Commissioner of the Competition Commission of Singapore, a board member of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, a Council member of Sport Singapore, and a consultant at TSMP Law Corporation.
He currently sits on several boards which include Chuan Hup Holdings Limited, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd, Global Yellow Pages Limited, Keppel Reit Management Limited, Caritas Singapore Community Council Limited, NTUC First Campus Cooperative Ltd. and Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd.
Professor Tan obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from NUS and Master of Laws Degree from the University of Cambridge. In 2006, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver). He was also awarded the Friend of Labour Award in 2013.
Mr. Arthur Lee is the Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc and the Chief Executive & member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia, the regional head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific Region. In addition to being a non-executive director, Mr Lee is a member of the Audit Committee and Nomination & Remuneration Committee.
He is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd, Tokio Marine Asset Management International Pte. Ltd., Asia General Holdings Limited, Tokio Marine General Assets Pte Ltd, Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad, Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd, Malayan Insurance Co., Inc., Baoviet Tokio Marine Insurance Company Limited, IFFCO-TOKIO General Insurance Co., Ltd., Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance Company Limited, Tokio Marine Life Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited and Asia General Assets Bhd.
Mr. Lee holds a Juris Doctorate and in addition to his business involvements, he was awarded by the President of Singapore the Public Service Star (BBM) in August 2016 and the Public Service Medal (PBM) in August 2008.
Mr. Kichiichiro (Kit) Yamamoto was seconded from Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. in Japan to Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd. in 2015 to serve as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing the Corporate Governance, Finance and Investment Functions of Tokio Marine Group's worldwide life and non-life operations in Asia & Oceania, Europe, the America, Middle East and Africa. In addition to being a non-executive director, Mr. Yamamoto is a member of the Risk Management Committee.
He is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd., Tokio Marine Life Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited, and Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance Company Limited (ETL).
Mr. Yamamoto graduated from Tokyo University, and also holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.
Ooi Chee Kar
Ms. Ooi Chee Kar is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Ms. Ooi chairs the Audit Committee, and is a member of the Investment Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee and Risk Management Committee.
She currently also sits on the board of other organisations which include Pacific Radiance Limited, AusGroup Limited, Singapore Eye Research Institute and Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd.
Ms. Ooi was an Audit Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Singapore) until the end of 2012. She possesses more than thirty years of professional experience in the areas of audit, IPO related work, accounting advisory, regulatory compliance, internal control reviews and due diligence work.
Ms. Ooi holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Rolf Gerber is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Mr. Gerber chairs the Risk Management Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee and Investment Committee.
He currently also sits on the board of other organisations which include LGT Bank (Singapore) Ltd. and Singapore International Chamber of Commerce, and is a council member of the Singapore Business Federation.
Mr. Gerber was a banker until the end of 2015. He possesses more than forty years of professional experience in the finance industry.
Mr. Gerber obtained his MBA from the University of Basel, Switzerland. In 2010, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM).
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. James Tan is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore (TMLS). He also chairs the Management, Product Development, Compensation and IT Steering committees at TMLS.
James has over 20 years of experience in the insurance and banking sectors and has held leadership positions in Asia, Middle East and the United States. His recent roles include being a Managing Director for an international life insurer and the Global Head of Bancassurance in a global bank.
James is trained in actuarial science with a Master’s Degree in Actuarial Science from Georgia State University, USA. He also holds MBAs from the University of California, Los Angeles and the National University of Singapore.
Chief Risk Officer
Mr. Takuya Igarashi is the Chief Risk Officer and leads the Risk Management Division in adopting an enterprise-wide approach to oversee both financial and enterprise risk management, as well as in promoting the Good Company culture within TMLS. Prior to his new appointment, he served as Head of Corporate Office who was responsible for the Legal & Compliance, Internal Audit, Corporate Planning and Marketing departments.
Before joining TMLS, Mr. Igarashi was the Director (Head of Marketing Department, Investment Trust) of Tokio Marine Asset Management Co. Ltd. He has been with the Tokio Marine Group since 1990 and possesses 24 years of financial business experience, including financing, mutual funds start-ups and marketing.
Mr. Igarashi graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Waseda, Japan.
Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Kenneth Chew, as the Chief Operations Officer, is responsible in leading the various functions of the Operations Division, which includes New Business, Customer Service, Claims, Operations Transformation and Legal and Corporate Secretariat. Prior to his new appointment, Kenneth has been the company’s Chief Financial Officer who oversaw all financial reporting and operations, as well as the Corporate Planning department.
Kenneth is a qualified Accountant with over 20 years of experience performing multiple cross-functional roles which include accounting, administration, budget, company secretarial, finance, human resource and information technology.
Kenneth holds a Master of Business Administration from Warwick University, United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant as well as a Chartered Accountant of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. He also possesses a Diploma in Life Insurance and Chartered Life Underwriter awarded by the Singapore College of Insurance.
Chief Corporate Solutions Officer
Mr. Sebastian Tan is the Chief Corporate Solutions Officer who oversees the Group Insurance and New Opportunities & Worksite departments. Under his leadership, Sebastian wil continue to grow our group insurance market share in Sinagpore.
Sebastian has over 20 years of enriching life insurance industry experience in the areas of business development, marketing and group employee benefits.
Sebastian has an Asia-Pacific Executive Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore Business School and a Bachelor of Business (Business Administration) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. He is also a holder of the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant awarded by the Singapore College of Insurance.
Some Yew Kong
Mr. Some Yew Kong is the Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary who oversees the Actuarial Services and Product Development departments. He is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s actuarial functions including product pricing, experience studies, bonus recommendation for participating policies, valuation of policy liabilities and analysis of the financial risks.
Yew Kong has a wealth of over 15 years of actuarial experience. Prior to joining TMLS, Yew Kong was a Corporate Actuary with a leading insurer in Singapore and was also the Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary from September 2011 to 2013.
Yew Kong is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Singapore Actuarial Society, and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a Ph.D. and Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with first class honours from the National University of Singapore.
Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Colin Quek is the Chief Investment Officer and oversees the Investment department. In his role, Colin advises, manages and monitors the investment activities undertaken by TMLS’ external fund managers and provides strategic counsel on the Company’s investment management, investment risks and on its Investment-Linked funds’ strategy.
Prior to this appointment, Colin was the Chief Investment Officer with TM Asia Life Singapore, before its investment teams at TM Asia Life Singapore were transferred to Tokio Marine Asset Management International (TMAMI) in 2009. Colin was subsequently appointed TMAMI Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer.
A veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry, of which he spent more than 20 years in fund management, Colin has held various leadership positions in investment banking, fund management, and product development. Colin’s vast experience in investment management spans a wide range of asset classes and businesses. Among others, he has personally managed the business and investments of an asset management company with more than S$12 billion in assets under management, as well as supervised the investment activities of 25 fund managers across South Asia in their respective domestic equity and fixed income markets.
Colin’s core fund management expertise covers a multitude of asset classes, including local and regional equities, local and regional fixed income, future derivatives, hedged funds, options and structured notes. Colin’s geographical markets of interest include Asian markets, such as Vietnam, ex Japan and ex Australia.
Colin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a MBA (Finance) from Indiana University with Beta Gamma Sigma, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from the National University of Singapore.
Lim Sheng Hui
Ms. Lim Sheng Hui is the Financial Controller and manages the Finance & HR division, which includes Corporate Planning, Finance, and Human Resources. She oversees the Company’s financial reporting, budgeting, accounting, as well as talent management.
Sheng Hui is also the Regional Head of Finance at Tokio Marine Asia, having been with Tokio Marine Group for more than five years. She was previously Head of Finance and Head of Corporate Planning at Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia (TMLM), as part of a two-year secondment.
Prior to joining the Group, Sheng Hui worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for seven years, including a two-year stint in Hong Kong, where she focused primarily on the insurance industry.
Sheng Hui holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bachelor of Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. She is also a member of the Institute of Public Accountants.
Cheong Wai Hon
Chief Information Officer
Mr. Cheong Wai Hon is the Chief Information Officer and oversees the Information Technology department. He is responsible for developing and implementing IT strategies and initiatives to support the business and leading all aspects of the Company’s technology, including compliance with the Technology Risk Management framework.
Wai Hon has more than 18 years of IT experience and has held several leadership positions both within and outside the insurance industry. His recent roles include being the CIO for an established Insurer in Hong Kong and Malaysia as well as regional director setting up new insurance operation in Vietnam.
Wai Hon holds a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree (1st Class Honors) in Computer Science with University of Malaya.
