Mr. Chris John Bodman Williams
Chairman & Director
Mr. Williams has over 40 years of experience in the insurance industry, including significant knowledge of international insurance markets.
Mr. Williams commenced his insurance career in 1975 with Harlock & Galli, a Melbourne, Australia-based property and casualty insurance broker. He moved to London in the late 1970’s to work with Lloyd’s Underwriters before moving to the United States in 1981 to become President of Robert H. Bradshaw & Co., a sports disability underwriter. Mr. Williams established Reinsurance Alternatives in 1985, an accident and health reinsurance intermediary, which was acquired by Willis Re in 1992. Prior to his retirement in 2005, he became National Director for Life, Accident & Health of Willis Re.
From 1994 to 2016, Mr. Williams was Chairman of Wattle Creek Winery, which he established in Sonoma County, California in 1994 and sold in 2016.
Mr. Williams served as HCC’s President from May 2011 until becoming its Chief Executive Officer in December 2012, a role he held until September 2018. Mr. Williams has served as a member of HCC’s Board of Directors since May 2007, including as Chairman of the Board from August 2008 to May 2011.
Following the merger of HCC with Tokio Marine Holdings in October 2015, Mr. Williams began focusing on the management and strategy of the Tokio Marine Group as a member of Tokio Marine’s International Executive Committee. Expanding on this group role, he was appointed Co-Chairman of Tokio Marine’s Global Retention Strategy Committee in April 2017. Mr. Williams’ role within the group was further expanded in September 2018 when he became Managing Executive Officer and Co-Head of International Business for Tokio Marine.
Mr. Ian Brimecome
Vice Chairman & Director
Ian is the Senior Managing Executive Officer and Executive Chairman International of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc and the first non-Japanese Executive Officer in its more than 130 year history. He is Vice Chairman of Tokio Marine Asia.
He is a Board Member of Edelweiss Tokio Life, Chairman of Tokio Marine Kiln Group at Lloyd’s of London, AXA UK PLC, Equitable Life Assurance Society, the oldest mutual assurer in the UK, Delphi Financial Group and Tokio Marine HCC in the USA and of Tokio Marine North America. He also sits on the Steering Committee of the Insurance Development Forum, a multinational organisation aiming to provide financial protection to underserved disaster-prone communities.
He was formerly an investment banker specialising in the insurance and asset management industries. During his 35 year career as a banker he advised on more than one hundred completed merger and acquisition transactions in 20 countries and also handled numerous demutualisations and initial public offerings in Europe, the UK, South Africa and Canada.
He led the acquisitions of Kiln, Philadelphia Consolidated, Delphi Financial Group and HCC for Tokio Marine as well as the establishment of its Indian life insurance joint venture with Edelweiss Group.
He has extensive experience in Asia, with merger and acquisition work in several countries, including Japan, Singapore, India, Indonesia and Australia.
Mr. Ichiro Ishii
Mr Ishii is the Advisor of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc, and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. In addition, Mr Ishii is the member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia, the regional head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific Region. He is also a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee of Tokio Marine Asia.
He is also a member of the Board of the Philadelphia Consolidated Holding Corp, Tokio Millenium Re. and Tokio Marine Kiln.
Mr. Akira Harashima
Mr Harashima is the Managing Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. In addition, Mr Harashima is the member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia, the regional head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific Region.
He joined Tokio Marine in 1984 and has been engaged with insurance business for over 33 years. Mr Harashima has extensive experience in overseas insurance business especially for North and South America, and he is now mainly in charge of Asia, China and Middle East markets.
Mr. Chisato Kojima
Mr Kojima is the General Manager of Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. He joined Tokio Marine in 1984 and has been engaged with insurance business for over 33 years. In addition, Mr Kojima is the member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia, the regional head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific Region.
Mr Kojima is a qualified USCPA, CMA, and CIA and also holds a Master of Business Administration from MIT.
Mr. Shinichi Hirose
Mr. Shinichi Hirose is a Senior Managing Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. in charge of the Asian life insurance business strategy in International Business Development Department. In addition, he will take on a newly established role of non-resident Executive Director of Tokio Marine Asia.
He joined Tokio Marine in 1982 and has been engaged with insurance business for over 36 years. Mr Hirose has extensive experience in life insurance business as the CEO & President of Tokio Marine & Nichido Life Insurance Co., Ltd. and will be supporting Tokio Marine Asia with its Asia business, especially in Life business.
Mr. Trevor John Matthews
Mr Matthews is a Non-Executive Director of Tokio Marine Asia, the head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific region.
Mr Matthews currently resides in Sydney, Australia and is a Non-Executive Director of AMP Limited, CMC Markets Australia, Bupa Australia and New Zealand, FNZ Asia Pacific and Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance. He is also Chairman of AMP Life, the State Insurance Regulatory Authority in New South Wales and 1st Group, a small listed company that facilitates the making of medical and related appointments online.
Mr Matthews is a qualified actuary and a former CEO of insurance organisations in Australia, Canada, Japan and the United Kingdom.
Mr. Seigo Fukushima
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Mr Fukushima is the General Manager of Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. He joined Tokio Marine in 1989 and has extensive experience in insurance business, especially in the area of underwriting.
Mr Fukushima is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Asia, the regional head office of the Tokio Marine Group for the Asia Pacific Region.
