Learning from the experience of earthquakes and tsunamis in various cities in Indonesia, Tokio Marine Indonesia took the initiative to provide education class for middle and high school students as the future generation. This activity aims to learn and understand how to mitigate natural disasters that are prone to occurring around them.

Education Class at Erenos Junior High School on July 18, 2023 and Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 4 on October 10, 2023

This class was secondly conducted by the Good Company committee of Tokio Marine Indonesia (GC TMI) that aimed at the students of Erenos Middle School grades 7, 8, 9, and at the students of Erenos Middle School grades 10.

The topics presented were still about the knowledge of earthquake and tsunami natural disasters, how they could happen, and how to overcome it. The material presented comes from the Holdings of Tokio Marine Group in Japan and it is based on facts experienced by Japanese people, due to its geographical structure, Japan experiences 300 earthquakes every day. In this material, there is also a scientific research video that illustrates what is the difference between ordinary waves and tsunami waves, the process of occurrence of an underwater earthquake that has the potential for a tsunami and the impact that occurred on the surrounding countries.

In addition, knowledge about Indonesia's earthquake and tsunami natural disasters was also conveyed. Not much different from the geographical structure in Japan, Indonesia also has the potential to experience earthquakes and tsunamis. Therefore, the teachers conducted a question and answer session and invited the students to carry out simulations and exercises on how to take shelter and evacuate in the event of an earthquake while at school.

Knowledge of how to deal with natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis was also taught, starting from preparing the emergency bags containing essential needs when evacuating including lighting and medicines, how to evacuate to a safe place, learning earthquake disaster signs, recording emergency numbers and how to seek help.

This knowledge is very important to be imparted to our younger generation so that they can learn from an early age and care more about how to protect themselves, their families, friends, and others when natural disasters occur at any time.

We believe that carrying out this routine activity can provide an example and a positive impact on our young generation for a better future. Hopefully, this activity can be carried out continuously, not only by TMI but also by the wider community in Indonesia.
