Tokio Marine Indonesia Plants 1,000 Mangroves at Taman Wisata Alam Angke and Pulau Harapan

This initiative is part of TMI’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Program and aligns with Tokio Marine Group’s global initiativesto preserve nature and reduce the impacts of climate change.

On 5 October 2025, TMI conducted a symbolic handover ceremony and mangrove planting at Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Angke Kapuk, West Jakarta, in collaboration with CarbonEthics and Leva as the TWA management partners. The ceremony was attended by TMI management, representatives from CarbonEthics and Leva, as well as employees who participated in educational activities highlighting the importance of mangrove ecosystems for the environment and sustainability.

Meanwhile, the main planting of 1,000 mangrove seedlings was carried out by local mangrove farmers on Pulau Harapan, Thousand Islands, as part of continuous efforts to restore coastal ecosystems and improve local community welfare.

In his remarks, Shiro Ipposhi, Managing Director of TMI, stated that this initiative is not only a celebration of the company’s long journey but also a real contribution to maintaining nature’s balance.

“Planting mangroves means planting hope. We believe that every small step in protecting nature can make a big difference for future generations. This activity also represents Tokio Marine Group’s real commitment to supporting global sustainability,” he said.

The event at TWA also featured Mangrove 101 educational sessions, technical briefings, and interactive Pos-to-Pos activitiessuch as nursery workshops, bronjong (bamboo fence) making, educational games, and a boat tour around the mangrove area. Participants had the opportunity to learn directly about the ecological functions of mangroves in improving air quality, preventing coastal abrasion, and absorbing carbon.

Through this activity, TMI reinforces that sustainability is not merely a slogan, but an integral part of the company’s core values. In line with Tokio Marine Group’s vision, initiatives like this will continue to be carried out to benefit both society and the environment, as well as to support global efforts to combat climate change.
