Mr. Matthias Yao is an independent non-executive Chairman at Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. Additionally, he chairs the Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee and the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Currently, he is also the Chairman of Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd. and sits on the board of Agmonton Pte. Ltd. He is also a Trustee of National Trades Union Congress.
Mr. Yao started his career with the Civil Service in 1980 as an Administrative Officer with rotation of postings to Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Community Development and Ministry of Communications and Information. He was elected into Parliament in 1991, and held the position of Senior Parliamentary Secretary before becoming Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence and the Prime Minister’s Office. He was a Deputy Speaker of Parliament before his retirement from public service. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Yao was a Board member with the Housing & Development Board, Deputy Chairman of NTUC Income and Special Adviser to the Board of NTUC Income. After his retirement, Mr. Yao held independent non-executive directorship positions in iFast Corporation Ltd and iFast Financial Pte Ltd.
He obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
Ms. Ooi Chee Kar is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Ms. Ooi chairs the Audit Committee, and is a member of the Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee and Risk Management Committee.
Ms. Ooi currently also sits on the board of other organisations which include AusGroup Limited, LawNet Technology Services Pte. Ltd. and Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd. She is also the Board Member and the Audit Committee Chairman of the National Council of Social Services, and an Independent Member of the Investor Committee of Mapletree US Logistics Private Trust.
Ms. Ooi was an Audit Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Singapore) until the end of 2012. She possesses more than thirty years of professional experience in the areas of audit, IPO related work, accounting advisory, regulatory compliance, internal control reviews and due diligence work.
Ms. Ooi holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Rolf Gerber is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Mr. Gerber chairs the Risk Management Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee and Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee.
In addition, Mr. Gerber sits on the board of LGT Bank (Singapore) Ltd.
Mr. Gerber was a banker until the end of 2015. He possesses more than forty years of professional experience in the finance industry.
Mr. Gerber obtained his MBA from the University of Basel, Switzerland. In 2010, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM).
Mr. Tomoya Kittaka holds the position of Managing Executive Officer at Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. and supports the co-head of International Business Division. Furthermore, he holds a non-executive directorship at Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. and is a member of the Risk Management Committee.
Currently, he also sits on the board of Asia General Holdings Limited, Hollard Holdings Proprietary Limited, Hollard International Proprietary Limited, Tokio Marine Life Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited, and Tokio Marine Management (Australasia) Pty. Ltd.
With more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry, he has specialized in strategic planning and execution at the global business unit level, as well as in mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, and commercial lines underwriting. He played a key role in four significant acquisitions (Philadelphia Insurance Companies, Delphi Financial Group, Hollard Group and PURE Group). He also spent six years in the global management consulting industry.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and Economics from Kyoto University, Japan and Master of Business Administration from Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, United States.
Mr. Tang Loo Chuan is the Chief Life Officer of Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd. In addition to being a non-executive director of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd., Mr. Tang is a member of the Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee, Audit Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee and Risk Management Committee.
Mr. Tang currently also sits on the board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd. He is also the President Commissioner of PT Tokio Marine Life Insurance Indonesia.
Mr. Tang obtained his Bachelor of Business Degree (2nd Upper specialising in Actuarial Science) from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, United Kingdom (now known as Institute & Faculty of Actuaries).
