Identification Number (TIN)
Tax Identification Number (“TIN”) is a unique identifier assigned by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) to individuals and entities (such as companies and businesses) registered as taxpayers. Also referred to as “Nombor Pengenalan Cukai”, the TIN is used for tax-related matters in Malaysia.
You can retrieve your Tax Identification Number (TIN) through self-service options or by contacting the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) via it’s official HASiL touchpoints.

Registration Number (BRN)
The SSM Business Registration Number (BRN) refers to the unique identifier issued by the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM), also known as the Companies Commission of Malaysia. This number is essential for legal recognition and compliance with Malaysian business laws.
The new BRN comprise of a 12-digit unique identifier for businesses registered with SSM, which was introduced in October 2019 to streamline the identification process. This registration number is crucial for e-invoicing, conducting contracts with banks, government agencies, and other entities, as well as for tax compliance and regulatory matters.
You may retrieve your new Business Registration Number (BRN) by using the e‑Search facility available on the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) official website. Simply enter your previous Business Registration Number to obtain the updated BRN.

Tax (SST) Registration Number
Sales & Service Tax (SST) registration number is issued by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to businesses registered for Sales Tax and/or Service Tax.
The SST Registration Number is required by IRB for issuance of e-Invoice(s).
However, SST Registration is only mandatory for SST Registrants. If you are not registered for SST, you may leave the field blank when providing your e-Invoice information to TMIM.

Malaysian Standard Industrial Classification (MSIC) code is a 5-digit numeric code that represents a taxpayer’s business nature and activities.
The MSIC code applies only to non-individual customers.
All businesses registered with Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) are assigned an MSIC Code that describes the nature of their business operations.
