Professor Tan Cheng Han
Professor Tan Cheng Han is a Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore (“NUS”). He is also a Senior Counsel and arbitrator, and the Chairman of the NUS law school’s Centre for Law and Business. In addition to being a non-executive Chairman, Professor Tan chairs the Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee and Nomination & Remuneration Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Professor Tan's current appointments include being the Chairman of Singapore Exchange Regulation Pte. Ltd., the Chairman of the Public Accountants Oversight Committee, the Deputy Chairman of Sport Singapore, a board member of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Singapore Business Federation.
He currently sits on several boards which include Caritas Singapore Community Council Limited, NTUC First Campus Cooperative Ltd. and Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd.
Professor Tan obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from NUS and Master of Laws Degree from the University of Cambridge. In 2006, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver). He was also awarded the Friend of Labour Award in 2013.
Ooi Chee Kar
Ms. Ooi Chee Kar is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Ms. Ooi chairs the Audit Committee, and is a member of the Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee and Risk Management Committee.
She currently also sits on the board of other organisations which include Singapore Eye Research Institute, Pacific Radiance Limited, AusGroup Limited, Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore Ltd. and Singapore Pools (Private) Limited.
Ms. Ooi was an Audit Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Singapore) until the end of 2012. She possesses more than thirty years of professional experience in the areas of audit, IPO related work, accounting advisory, regulatory compliance, internal control reviews and due diligence work.
Ms. Ooi holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from the University of Singapore, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Rolf Gerber is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd. In addition, Mr. Gerber chairs the Risk Management Committee, and is a member of the Audit Committee and Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee.
Mr. Gerber was a banker until the end of 2015. He possesses more than forty years of professional experience in the finance industry.
Mr. Gerber obtained his MBA from the University of Basel, Switzerland. In 2010, he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM).
Mr. Yasuyuki Sekioka is the Chief Financial Officer of Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd. In addition to being a non-executive director, Mr. Sekioka is a member of the Audit Committee, Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Risk Management Committee and Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee.
He currently also sits on the board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited and Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance Company Limited (ETL).
Mr. Sekioka graduated from University of Tokyo, and also holds a Master of Science in Management of Technology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management.
Mr. Ryusuke Futamura is a member of the Board of Tokio Marine Life Insurance Singapore Ltd.
In addition, he is also Special Adviser with Tokio Marine Asia Pte. Ltd. ("TM Asia"). His role in TM Asia is to provide its senior management with strategic advice on the development of the business operations of Tokio Marine Group's life insurance subsidiaries in South East Asia including India.
Prior to his appointment at TM Asia, Mr. Futamura was the Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Life Insurance (Thailand) PCL.
Mr. Futamura holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Tokyo Institute of Technology, and is a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries in Japan.
Interim Chief Executive Officer (w.e.f 1 Dec 2018) and Chief Financial Officer
Mr Kenneth Chew is the interim Chief Executive Officer (w.e.f 1 Dec 2018) until a new CEO is being appointed.
Mr Kenneth Chew, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the Finance, Legal and Corporate Secretariat as well as Corporate Planning functions within the organisation.
Prior to this appointment, Kenneth has assumed several appointments with the organisation including Chief Risk Officer and Chief Operations Officer and led the various functions of the Risk Management function and Operations Division, which include New Business, Customer Service, Claims, Operations Transformation and Legal and Corporate Secretariat.
Kenneth is a qualified Accountant with over 20 years of experience performing multiple cross-functional roles which include accounting, administration, budget, company secretarial, finance, human resource and information technology. Kenneth holds a Master of Business Administration from Warwick University, United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountant as well as a Chartered Accountant of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand. He also possesses a Diploma in Life Insurance and Chartered Life Underwriter awarded by the Singapore College of Insurance.
Chief Corporate Solutions Officer
Mr. Sebastian Tan is the Chief Corporate Solutions Officer who oversees the Group Insurance and New Opportunities & Worksite departments. Under his leadership, Sebastian will continue to grow our group insurance market share in Singapore.
Sebastian has over 20 years of enriching life insurance industry experience in the areas of business development, marketing and group employee benefits.
Sebastian has an Asia-Pacific Executive Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore Business School and a Bachelor of Business (Business Administration) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia. He is also a holder of the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant awarded by the Singapore College of Insurance.
Some Yew Kong
Mr. Some Yew Kong is the Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary who oversees the Actuarial Services and Product Development departments. He is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s actuarial functions including product pricing, experience studies, bonus recommendation for participating policies, valuation of policy liabilities and analysis of the financial risks.
Yew Kong has a wealth of over 15 years of actuarial experience. Prior to joining TMLS, Yew Kong was a Corporate Actuary with a leading insurer in Singapore and was also the Chief Actuary and Appointed Actuary from September 2011 to 2013.
Yew Kong is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and the Singapore Actuarial Society, and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. He holds a Ph.D. and Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with first class honours from the National University of Singapore.
Chief Investment Officer
Mr. Colin Quek is the Chief Investment Officer and oversees the Investment department. In his role, Colin advises, manages and monitors the investment activities undertaken by TMLS’ external fund managers and provides strategic counsel on the Company’s investment management, investment risks and on its Investment-Linked funds’ strategy.
Prior to this appointment, Colin was the Chief Investment Officer with TM Asia Life Singapore, before its investment teams at TM Asia Life Singapore were transferred to Tokio Marine Asset Management International (TMAMI) in 2009. Colin was subsequently appointed TMAMI Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer.
A veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the financial industry, of which he spent more than 20 years in fund management, Colin has held various leadership positions in investment banking, fund management, and product development. Colin’s vast experience in investment management spans a wide range of asset classes and businesses. Among others, he has personally managed the business and investments of an asset management company with more than S$12 billion in assets under management, as well as supervised the investment activities of 25 fund managers across South Asia in their respective domestic equity and fixed income markets.
Colin’s core fund management expertise covers a multitude of asset classes, including local and regional equities, local and regional fixed income, future derivatives, hedged funds, options and structured notes. Colin’s geographical markets of interest include Asian markets, such as Vietnam, ex Japan and ex Australia.
Colin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a MBA (Finance) from Indiana University with Beta Gamma Sigma, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) from the National University of Singapore.
Lim Sheng Hui
Chief Corporate Officer
Ms. Lim Sheng Hui is the Chief Corporate Officer and will oversee related party matters including Brunei and Malaysia for TMLS.
Sheng Hui formerly held the role of Financial Controller and managed the Finance & HR division, which includes Corporate Planning, Finance, and Human Resources.
Sheng Hui is also the Regional Head of Finance and Investment at Tokio Marine Asia, having been with Tokio Marine Group for more than seven years. She was previously Head of Finance and Head of Corporate Planning at Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia (TMLM), as part of a two-year secondment.
Prior to joining the Group, Sheng Hui worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for seven years, including a two-year stint in Hong Kong, where she focused primarily on the insurance industry.
Sheng Hui holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Bachelor of Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. She is also a member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
Lee How Teck
Chief Operating Officer
Ms. Lee How Teck is the Chief Operating Officer and oversees both Insurance Operations and Information Technology functions. Her focus is on creating unique and seamless experiences for our customers and intermediaries and drive operational efficiencies across the enterprise. How Teck has over 30 years of experience in the financial industry and has helmed leadership roles in numerous multinational insurers.
She last held the role of Chief Operating Officer with a multinational insurer before joining Tokio Marine Life Insurance.
Her experience spans across insurance operations, change management, business strategy, organisational development, legal, HR, risk and compliance.
How Teck holds a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy with National University of Singapore and is currently pursuing a Masters in Gerontology with the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
Chief Distribution Officer
Mr. Michael Tan is the Chief Distribution Officer and oversees the Agency Distribution, Partnership Distribution, Distribution Operations, Training, Marketing and Accident & Health departments. He is responsible to align and drive distribution strategy for TMLS to meet the overall business transformation goal and continue to cement TMLS’ reputation as the preferred retirement solutions provider to our customers and distribution partners.
Michael is a veteran with more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. He has assumed numerous leadership positions in his career across different companies and territories.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) with 2nd upper class honours from the National University of Singapore.
Chief Risk Officer
Mr Philip Woo is the Chief Risk Officer and oversees corporate governance and risk management in TMLS including Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA), Business Continuity & Crisis Management, and Outsourcing/Vendor Risk Management. He also chairs the Governance, Risk and Compliance Committee (GRCC) at TMLS.
Philip has over 25 years of experience in the financial sector, in both the industry and regulatory areas. Prior to joining TMLS, he was with a multinational insurer and oversaw ERM and strategic planning, and before that, held various roles in risk management, technology and payment systems, market infrastructure and IT systems development at the regulator.
Philip graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with honors from the National University of Singapore.
